Our Pastor

Reverend Michael B. Henderson was born November 16th on the Westside of Chicago, where he developed a love and sense of compassion for others.  Reverend Henderson has unfailingly been a regular church boy whom consistently had love and dedication for the church.  At the rightful age of thirteen, he was called to preach the word, and since that time he has earned numerous degrees where he has touched the lives through his teachings and his angelic voice.

Reverend Michael B. Henderson is the proud pastor of Second Baptist Church of Lagrange, IL where he began preaching June 1, 2015, and he was formally installed September 13, 2015.  Prior to his installation at Second Baptist Church, he resided in Greenwood, South Carolina where he was the Senior Pastor of the Bethlehem Grove Baptist Church of Clinton, South Carolina, where he served for over seven years.  Reverend Henderson has pastured churches in both Mississippi and South Carolina throughout his pastoral career.  He also served as the Director of Music for many churches in the Atlanta area.  In addition, to his pastoral duties, Reverend Henderson currently serves as the Chairperson for the late-night services for South Carolina E&M Convection, the State Congress, and one of the instructors.

Reverend Henderson has a deep passion for Christian Education and hunger for saving souls.  He is a graduate of Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science; he has also attended Gammon Theological Seminary, ITC/Morehouse School of Religion in Atlanta, Georgia where he received a Master of Divinity Degree.  After receiving his Master’s Degree, he went onto to pursue an Honorary Doctorate from Tennessee School of Religion.

Michael B. Henderson has always been known as a people person, he exemplifies the spirit of devotion to the needs of others, and it is shown through his preaching, teaching, and his acts of kindness for his members, friends, students, and family, but to his church, he is a friend to all.  With more than a decade of teaching and counseling it has enabled him to reach others with humor, warmth, transparency and above all faith, which has given Second Baptist the opportunity to grow, and through the Lord and our biggest blessing Pastor Henderson will lead Second Baptist to continue to grow as a church family.
